Mystery Weekend is where amateur detectives (you) scour the seaside village of Langley for clues, question an odd group of characters, and try to solve a murder. It’s all in good fictional fun, and the clues keep everyone guessing, laughing, eating, and shopping throughout this two-day event.The theme for 2024 is “Silence of the Mime.” What does that mean? We’re not sure because nobody’s talking.

State Park Free Days - Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a tireless advocate for racial equality, working classes, and the oppressed around the world. Commonly called Martin Luther King, Jr. Day or MLK Day, the third Monday of January is a federal holiday to honor his life and legacy. Places where he made history and of the greater Civil Rights Movement he influenced are preserved in many national parks and in local communities around the country.In honor of the Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr., national parks will waive entrance fees for everyone on Monday, January 15, 2024, as the first fee free day of the year. It is also a day of service when thousands of volunteers participate in service projects across the country, including at national parks. Whidbey Island is home to some of the most beautiful state parks in Washington, including the most visited of all (Deception Pass!). Usually, a Discover Pass is required for entry, but on special dates where entry and parking for day use is completely free! This year, more than ever, we need outdoor activity and natural beauty, and each island has great choices. If you miss the free days, an annual Discover Pass (including fees) is $35 or daily for $11.50. Let’s get outside!
